Northumberland OPP – Novice Licensed Driver Charged

On Sunday April 7, 2019 at approximately 7:15 pm, an officer from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) measured a Blue Audi sedan travelling 173 km/h on Highway 401 westbound in Alnwick-Haldimand Township.

The driver of the vehicle was found to be a class G2 licenced driver. Police charged a 17-year-old male from Belleville, Ontario under the Highway Traffic Act with Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed. The accused had his licence suspended and his vehicle towed and impounded for seven days. He is scheduled to appear in Cobourg court on a date in June 2019.
