Deadline Approaching for Municipality of Port Hope and Municipality of Clarington Trees for Rural Roads Programs

In Community

The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) is reminding residents of Port Hope and Clarington to take advantage of the Trees for Rural Roads program before the end of the month.
Rural residents of each community have until March 31st to apply for free potted stock to be planted along rural roads. The Trees for Rural Roads program goal is to restore trees along roads for their beauty and environmental benefits. Trees through this program will be available for pick up at the end of April.
If you’re not a rural resident, but are thinking about incorporating trees, shrubs or native plants in your summer garden, consider visiting the GRCA on May 25th for the Native Plant Sale. Landowners are also encouraged to implement a rain barrel into their landscaping – the benefits are endless! Pre-order your rain barrel through rainbarrel.ca/ganaraska, and pick it up when you shop for your native plants on the 25th.
Please visit grca.on.ca/programs-stewardship for the Trees for Rural Roads applications. For further information on the program, please contact Pam Lancaster, Stewardship Technician at the GRCA: 905-885-8173 or stewardship@grca.on.ca.
