Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority Elects New Board of Directors Chair and Vice Chair

The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) held their 72nd Annual General Meeting in Port Hope on Thursday, February 21st. Jeff Lees, with The Municipality of Port Hope was elected as Chair of the Conservation Authority. As well, Mark Lovshin with Hamilton Township was elected to Vice Chair. The election was officiated by Mr. Glen Tozer of Lynch Rutherford Tozer, Chartered Accountants.
The meeting began with past Chair Wendy Partner’s introduction of all board members and staff, followed by appreciation for a hard worked and successful year. Program and service highlights from the past year were spoken about, with emphasis on the GRCA being a leader in the field, while it continues to work under its vision of Clean Water Healthy Land for Healthy Communities.
Linda Laliberte, CAO/Secretary-Treasurer then presented a summary of the Authority’s finances and took the opportunity to thank Board Members and staff of the GRCA for a year well done and their continued support. Service awards were later presented to Michelle Giddings, Bookkeeper, 20 years with the Authority; Steve McMullen, Recreation Technician with 20 years of service; and Shayne Pilgrim, Ganaraska Forest Centre Technician with 10 years.
The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority will continue to enhance and conserve across the Ganaraska Region Watershed by serving, educating, informing and engaging. 2019 Board of Directors include Raymond Benns, Township of Alnwick/ Haldimand; Tim Belch, Township of Cavan Monaghan; Vicki Mink, Municipality of Port Hope; Joe Neal, Municipality of Clarington; Brian Darling and Nicole Beatty, Town of Cobourg; Tracy Richardson, City of Kawartha Lakes; and Margaret Zwart, Municipality of Clarington.
