Durham Police – Homicide Investigation In Pickering

A deceased male located in a wooded area in north Pickering has now been classified as Durham Region’s first homicide victim of 2019.

On Friday, January 25, 2019 at approximately 7:30 a.m., a woman walking her two dogs came upon a deceased male in a wooded area near Liverpool Road North, about 150 meters north of Pine Ridge Secondary School. Police were called and officers located the deceased male with obvious signs of trauma.

He has been identified as Nicholas SAMAROO, age 24, of Pickering. A post mortem is now being scheduled to determine cause of death.

Anyone with information of assistance to investigators is asked to contact Det. Short of the Major Crime – Homicide Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5407. We are particularly interested in his movements and associations over the past several weeks.
