Peterborough County OPP – Family Dispute Leaves Victim with Burns

The Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a residence in Peterborough County for a report of a family dispute which ended with the victim suffering burns to their face.

On Tuesday March 17, 2026, at approximately 4:30pm, officers from the Peterborough County OPP received a call related to an assault that had taken place at a residence within Peterborough County. The caller advised that two adult siblings had been arguing and it quickly escalated into a physical altercation. During the fight, one of the siblings grabbed an edged weapon and came towards the other but it was wrestled away from them. At that point, upon losing control of the weapon, they grabbed a pot containing a boiling substance from the stove and threw it towards the other.

Officers arrived on scene and arrested a 43-year-old male. The male was arrested and charged with;

• Assault with a weapon

• Assault causing bodily harm

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The accused was released to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough at a future date.
