The Queenies Bake Shop Toy Drive raised the most amount of toys ever thanks to people in the community – along with Adam Pearson who matched each donation.
Ten pairs of brand new skates, hockey sticks, a bicycle, dvd’s, games, dolls, and everything in between covered Queenies Bake Shop with owner Adam Pearson sitting in the middle of it all on Sunday, December 17, 2018.
Pearson has been having the Toy Drive for seven years and he considers it to be one of, if not thee biggest independent toy drive in Northumberland County.
The Toy Drive always starts on November 12, just after Remembrance Day.  With toys around the Christmas tree, Pearson proudly promotes matching each gift someone brings in, with a gift he purchases.
“Tons of support from the community with people bringing in toys.”
Support from the community like the Port Hope Police Association and Sommerville’s Sporting Goods in Cobourg helped make it a year to remember.
Some of the gifts cost over $200 and the goal is for every child possible to wake up with a smile at Christmas.
“It doesn’t matter about their parents financial situation, it’s just about them waking up and enjoying Christmas morning like I remember enjoying Christmas morning.”
Pearson estimates he’s purchased $5,000 worth of toys making the total Queenies Bake Shop Toy Drive for 2018 valued at $10,000.
