Special Treat For Halloween

In Editor Choice, Local

A young Port Hope boy got a special gift for Halloween.
Members of the Port Hope Police Service presented him with his very own Port Hope Police car that his mother Sarah Orr made over the last several days in her Port Hope home.
When her 13-year-old son Owen was wheeled off the school bus on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, Sgt. Nathan Clarke, Constable Tammie Staples and Constable Brad Spina were waiting in the driveway to help him try out the police car that fit over his wheelchair.
“I always ask Owen every year what he wants to be and this year he’s been asking for a long time to be a police officer,” said Orr.
“I could tell Owen was excited as soon as he saw the police in our driveway when the school bus pulled up.”
Along with the police car, Owen has a police cap, and even a ticket book for people who don’t obey the rules tomorrow night when he goes Trick or Treating in his Port Hope neighbourhood.
Orr said she wanted to thank the officers for helping make her son’s day so special by presenting him with his police car.
