From Monday the 8th day of October, 2018 through Sunday the 14th day of October, 2018 the Cobourg Police Service responded to 215 occurrences including; 36 Community Service calls, 12 Police Assistance calls, 3 Traffic Complaints, 1 Fraud call, 8 Suspicious Person calls, 9 Police Information calls, 11 Property Related calls, 3 Assault calls, 6 Break and Enter Calls, 6 – 911 calls, 23 Theft calls, 12 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 3 Liquor License Act calls, 5 Alarm calls, 7 Harassment calls, 2 Disturb the Peace calls, 7 Threats calls, 8 Noise complaints, 1 Domestic Dispute call, 2 Family Dispute calls, 4 Attempt or Threat of Suicide calls, 6 Mischief calls, 1 weapons. Some examples of calls for service this week include;

Monday, October 8, 2018:

Police investigated a report of an intrusion alarm at a local business in the east end of Cobourg at approximately 1:42am. Police conducted a search of the premise; everything in order. Alarm was determined to be false.

Officers responded to a business in the downtown core after receiving a report of threats having been uttered towards staff. Police investigation revealed the identity of the party responsible for the threatening utterances. The involved party was subsequently located and cautioned by investigating Officers.

At approximately 3:15 pm Police responded to the area of Ontario Street at Elgin Street West in the Town of Cobourg, after receiving a report of a two vehicle motor collision. No injuries reported. An investigation was conducted and as a result one driver was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

Tuesday, October 9, 2018:

At approximately 8:30am Officers responded to a North end business after receiving a report of a suspicious male in the area. A subsequent Police investigation led to the recovery of a motor vehicle reported stolen from Middlesex County on the 5th day of October 2018. Officers further located a trailer containing two snowmobiles stolen from the Port Perry Area. The Cobourg Police Service is currently liaising with originating Police Services. Investigation continues.

Police responded to an east end residence after receiving a report of a theft from motor vehicle overnight. No damage was observed to the involved motor vehicle. Police investigation revealed the vehicle had been left unlocked. No reported witness or suspects at this time.

Wednesday, October 10, 2018

At approximately 7:30am Officers responded to an east end business after receiving a report that the premise had been entered sometime overnight. Police investigation determined that sometime between 17:30hrs on Tuesday the 9th day of October 2018 and 07:30hrs on Wednesday the 10th day of October 2018, unknown person(s) gained entry into an outbuilding on the property. The suspect appeared to be wearing a camouflage hat, black sweater , grey vest, and had concealed his face with abalaclava. Investigation continues.
Officers responded to an east end business after receiving a report from the business Owner, that the premise had been entered sometime overnight. Police investigation determined unknown person(s) gained entry into the business, via a side garage door. Investigation continues.

At approximately 4:30am Officers attend an address in the downtown core, with regard to the unknown whereabouts of 20 year old Destiny Dawson. Dawson through the assistance of the public was later located in good health.

Thursday, October 11, 2018

Police responded to the area of Victoria Beach after receiving a Complaint, that a boat had been observed in Lake Ontario, discharging numerous flares. Police attended the area and learned that the flares were being deployed by the Coast Guard in partnership with Military Search and Rescue for training purposes. Everything in order. Police assistance was not required.

At approximately 2:00am the Cobourg Police Service responded to the area of D’Arcy Street after receiving a report that an elderly male had fallen off his bicycle. Police attended and located the involved male. Officers spoke with the involved party and learned he had stuck his head on the ground when he had fallen from his bicycle.. The male was subsequently transported to by paramedics to Northumberland Hills Hospital for further medical treatment.

Cobourg Police commenced an investigation in September 2018, after receiving a report of a male exposing his genitals to a female victim in the area of the Cobourg Public Library. On Thursday, October 11, 2018, the male was arrested and charged with 2 counts of indecent act stemming from two separate incidents involving the same victim. Arrested and charged is Luke DWYER 24 years old of Hamilton Township. DWYER was held in the custody of the Cobourg Police Service for a bail hearing.

Friday, October 12, 2018

At approximately 5:00am Officers responded to a residence in the downtown core, after receiving a complaint that an unknown person(s) had entered the residence through an unlocked door and removed a lap top and cell phone. Police determined that entry had been gained through the front door of the home. Investigation continues.

Officers responded to west end business after receiving information that a male described to be approx. 60 years of age dressed entirely in camouflage was observed inside the premise with a hand gun in the front pocket of his jacket. Officers searched the premise and located a male matching the description. The male was known to responding Officers. A subsequent Police investigation determined the involved firearm was a replica bb gun. The bb gun was seized by Officers, for safe keeping and the involved male was released unconditionally.

Saturday, October 13, 2018

At approximately 8:00am Officers responded to a business in the downtown core, after receiving a report that sometime overnight two sets of truck tires and rims had been stolen from a motor vehicle located in the parking lot of the business. Investigation confirmed the theft. Investigation is ongoing.

Police responded to a local business located in the west end of Cobourg, after receiving a report of an after the fact theft. Police investigation determined that a male, described to be approximately 20 years of age, wearing a grey jacket, jeans and a baseball cap, had left premise with an undisclosed amount of property concealed under his jacket. The male made no attempts to pay for the items prior to leaving the area. Investigation is continuing.

Police conducted traffic enforcement in the north end of Cobourg. As a result of the initiative three Provincial Offences Notices were issued under the Highway Traffic Act.
Sunday, October 14, 2018

At approximately 3:00 am Officers on patrol observed a male in the area of east end business whom appeared to be intoxicated. The 22 year old male was subsequently arrested, due to concerns for his wellbeing. The male was issued a Provincial Offences Notice, Under the Liquor Licence Act for being intoxicated in a Public Place. The involved party remained in the custody of the Cobourg Police Service until sober.

At approximately 7:30pm, Officers responded to the area of Victoria Park after receiving information that the Band shell many have been entered by unknown person(s). Information received at the time of the initial complaint indicated that an exterior door appeared to have been pried open. Officers conducted a search of the interior/exterior of the building and located two insecure doors. A search of the interior of the building yielded negative results for any person(s) inside. Nothing appeared to have been removed from the storage area. Officers secured the building without further incident.
