Port Hope Police – Theft From Vehicles/Break And Enter

In Police Blotter

Thefts from unlocked vehicles

Port Hope Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles when not in use.  On the 10th of October 2018 Police were called to an apartment complex in the Municipality’s east end after two people reported their vehicle rummaged through. On resident’s wallet was taken, the other had a GPS stolen and approximately $30.00 in cash. Both vehicles were left unlocked.  Police are further advising not to leave valuables like wallets or purses in their vehicles in plain view. There are no suspects at this time.

Break and enters reported

Port Hope Police are investigating two separate break and enters reported on the 9th and 12th of October. On the 9th a resident living in the down town area reported his lock back porch entered. The culprit(s) were not able to get into the residence and nothing was stolen.

On the 13th of October shortly before 10:00pm a resident living in the Hope Street/Molson Street were home when a female stranger entered the bedroom area. The resident thought it was a family member. Another family member went to investigate and located an unknown female in the kitchen. The female grabbed a grocery bag that had groceries in it and fled the resident. She was apprehending by a third resident who took the groceries back and told her to get off his property. Police searched the area but could not locate anyone. She is described as female 20’s dirty blonde hair wearing dark clothing. Police discovered evidence that the female was in the residence prior to the owners returning home with the groceries. Police are urging citizens to lock doors to their houses when they are out on trips even if it is a short one.  There is nothing to suggest the two break and enters are connected. Anyone with information is asked to call Port Hope Police or crime stoppers.
