Rudd Named Chair of Parliamentary Health Research Caucus and a Member of Canada’s Finance Committee

In National, News

Kim Rudd, Member of Parliament for Northumberland—Peterborough South, has been named Chair of the Parliamentary Health Research Caucus, as well as a member of the Standing Committee on Finance.

Through the Health Research Caucus (HRC), Research Canada engages elected officials, policymakers, and key industry stakeholders to advocate for long-term, sustainable health research funding that spurs innovation and ensures that Canadian citizens are among the healthiest in the world.

The mandate of the Standing Committee on Finance is to study and report on all matters relating to the mandate, management, and operation of selected federal departments and agencies, including the Department of Finance and the Canada Revenue Agency, and to conduct pre-budget consultations.

“I welcome these new opportunities, which give me unique insights into the operations of Canada’s health research sector as well as the financial structures of government,” said Rudd. “I look forward to working with my Caucus and Committee colleagues, and am particularly excited to engage in important pre-budget consultations. I’m also very pleased that these new responsibilities will still allow for me to be very much focused on the important constituency work in my riding.”
