Three People Taken Into Custody After Stabbing In Cobourg

On Friday, August 31, 2018 at approximately 1:30 am, members of the Cobourg Police Service attended an address in the east end of the town of Cobourg for a man in his 40’s who had been stabbed.

The man was transported to a Toronto area hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition.

The Cobourg Police Service has three persons of interest in custody and the investigation is ongoing.

Three people are in custody after a stabbing in the early morning hours of August 31, 2018.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. Cobourg Police were notified of a stabbing at a residence on Elgin Street East, just east of D’Arcy Street.
When emergency services arrived on scene one male victim was laying in a pool of blood at the front of a pickup truck near a camper.
The victim was suffering from possibly 10 stab wounds or more, but was conscious at the scene.
Paramedics quickly transported the victim to Northumberland Hills Hospital where he was transported by air ambulance to a trauma centre accompanied by an OPP officer.
Two Cobourg Police officers who were working were assisted by numerous OPP officers including five members from the Emergency Response Team and a canine team.
After approximately 45-minutes of tracking by the OPP officers and canine handler OPP Constable John King and his canine partner Ben, three males were taken into custody in the area south of Elgin Street and to the east to Alexandria Drive. At least one of the suspects was located in the woods east of Alexandra Drive.
A Cobourg Police Forensic Officer photographed the scene and took various pieces of evidence and bloodied clothing.
It appeared the Forensic Officer completed her investigation at approximately 6 a.m., but police were still holding the scene.
No details have been released by Cobourg Police following the incident.
