Northumberland County – First Conference Designed for Northumberland Small Businesses Coming This Fall

In Community, Local

Northumberland County has announced plans to host a conference specifically-designed for the local small business community, encouraging learning and networking that will support growth. Organized through the County’s Business & Entrepreneurship Cen-tre (BECN), the event will target entrepreneurs from all sectors, and will feature nine unique business development sessions presented by industry experts. The conference will be held on October 11, 2018 at the Best West-ern Plus Cobourg Inn and Convention Centre.
“This is the first time an event of this nature has been organized for
Northumberland small businesses,” indicates County Warden Mark Lovshin. “We have a thriving small business community focused on push-ing boundaries and delivering innovative products and services to market. It is so important to cultivate this drive, as these businesses are a significant engine of our local economy. This event will build on the exceptional small business services and support that the County currently provides.”
Elaborating on plans for the conference, County Economic Development & Tourism Director Dan Borowec states “This event will focus on education while promoting collaboration and business growth. To enhance the partici-pant experience, attendees will have opportunities in the agenda to choose the sessions that are most important to them and their business. This con-ference is a natural extension of the BECN’s impactful work with this com-munity, building on the quality learning opportunities we currently deliver year-round in collaboration with our partners.”
Tickets can be purchased online for $40.00 (+HST) by visiting the Business & Entrepreneurship Northumberland website at: www.becn.ca/conference. Tickets, which are limited in number, include the full-day conference,
continental breakfast and lunch.
“I am really looking forward to this conference and the variety of topics that are being addressed,” confirms Dotty Worobetz of Saucy Dotty’s Gourmet Sauce, in Brighton. “These opportunities are critical for small businesses like ours to get exposure to new ideas and best practices. I am excited to learn what I can to help move my business forward.”
This event would not be possible without the many partners that support small business in Northumberland County. Sincere thanks to key event partners: Regional Tourism Organization 8 (RT08), Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), Canada Business Ontario (CBO) and our local community business development and media partners.
