Cobourg Police – Provincial Back To School Blitz

During the month of September 2018, Officers of the Cobourg Police Service will be focusing on education / enforcement targeting Community Safety Zones and School Zones in general.

Officers of the Cobourg Police will be looking for 100% compliance for all roadway users including motorized vehicles and cyclists in order to keep pedestrians safe .Police are asking roadway users to be aware of a large increase in pedestrian traffic coinciding with back to school.

Police will be on the look out for a number of issues including but not limited to speeding, distracted driving, stop sign offences, disobey crossing guards and all school bus related offences. In addition police will be targeting the unsafe and unauthorized use of bicycles and skateboards on public sidewalks. Police remind cyclists they are to obey rules of the road as defined in The Highway Traffic Act..

The Cobourg Police Service is determined to make our community roadways as safe as possible, through enforcement and education. The Service has been enhancing our traffic patrols for Sept 2018 with the Select Traffic Enforcement Project (S.T.E.P.) program; the project is being run throughout 2018 focusing on a different topic monthly.
