Durham Police – Cobourg Man Charged with Historic Sexual Assault

Male Charged with Historic Sexual Assault

A 51-year-old Cobourg male has been charged with historical sexual assault charges involving a minor.

The DRPS Sexual Assault Unit commenced an investigation in July 2018 after a victim came forward with allegations of a sexual nature against the suspect. These sexual assaults occurred between January 2001 and June 2006. The victim, who was a minor at this time, alleged that the suspect committed sexual assaults against him on three separate occasions.

Investigators arrested and charged Todd READER, age 51 of Cobourg with Sexual Assault x2, Sexual Interference x2 and Exposure to Person under 14 Years. He was held for a bail hearing.

The suspect is known to have owned and operated several restaurants including one in Cobourg. Investigators want to ensure there are no other victims.
