Update: 52-Year-Old Port Colborne Man Succumbs To Injuries Following Collision Over The Weekend In Alderville

Update:(ALNWICK-HALDIMANDTWP, ON) – On August 5, 2018 just after 12:00 p.m. the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P), along with emergency personnel responded to a motor vehicle collision on County Road 45 south of Minnetonka Road.

An SUV that was being towed behind a southbound motorhome became detached, it crossed the centre line and struck a northbound motorcycle, causing the ri der to be ejected. The male rider was transported to a Toronto area trauma center by ORNGE air ambulance with serious injuries.

On Monday August 6, 2018, 52 year old Daniel Westover of Port Colborne, Ontario died as a result of the injuries he sustained.

The OPP Traffic Collision Investigators (T.C.I) attended the scene to assist detachment officers with the investigation. The investigation into the cause of this collision is still on-going.

County Road 45 was closed to traffic between 1st Line Road and County Road 18 near Roseneath, Ontario for several hours. No other injuries were reported.

Northumberland OPP are investigating after a horrific accident on County Road 45 north of Cobourg on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at approximately 12:15 p.m.
A bus travelling southbound on County Road 45 near Roseneath was towing a SUV when the SUV became free of the bus and swerved sharply into oncoming lanes of the highway.
A motorcyclist travelling northbound had no time to react and struck the SUV head-on. Another motorcycle that was travelling with the person that was struck was not injured and avoided the collision.
The driver of the motorcycle ended up the ditch along with the motorcycle.
The SUV went into a cornfield.
County Road 45 will be closed for several hours while police investigate.
The driver of the motorcycle was airlifted from the scene in critical condition.
