Sexual Assault/Sexual Interference Arrest:
A 30-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age and sexual interference following an investigation.
During the first two weeks of July 2018 the accused and the victim were at a Peterborough address where the victim, a female under 16 years of age, was sexually assaulted and threatened. The accused and victim know each other.
As a result of the investigation on July 20, 2018 the accused was located by officers and placed under arrest.
Anthony Craig Weatherup, 30, of Brock Street, Peterborough, is charged with the following:
- Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age
- Sexual interference
- Invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age
- Uttering threats
- Fail to comply with a probation order X2
- Fail to comply with an undertaking X2
The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on July 21, 2018, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (July 23).
Impaired/Over 80mg Arrest:
A 49-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including impaired driving and assault with intent to resist arrest following a single vehicle collision.
On July 22, 2018 at approximately 12:30 a.m. officers were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Aylmer Street during which time the driver was seen by a witness walking away from the vehicle.
A short time later officers located the male suspect walking in the area of Geraldine Avenue and Benson Avenue. While speaking with the male officers noted an odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the man’s breath.
As a result of the investigation officers attempted to place the male under arrest at which time he resisted and officers were assaulted.
A subsequent breath test revealed the driver had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system while operating a motor vehicle.
As a result of the investigation Frank Mandeljc, 49, of St. Pauls Street, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Impaired driving
- Driving with more than 80mgs of alcohol in blood
- Assault with intent to resist arrest
- Fail to remain
The accused was served a 90 day automatic drivers licence suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 23, 2018.
