Fail to stop at scene of accident Arrest:

A 72-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident following an incident in a mall parking lot.

On June 2, 2018 at approximately 3 p.m. the accused was operating a motor vehicle in the Lansdowne Place mall parking lot and struck the victim, a man in his 70’s. The accused then left the scene without getting out of his vehicle or stopping. The victim was taken to a local hospital where his injuries are still being treated.

On June 15, 2018 the accused attended the police station where, as a result of the investigation, he was arrested and charged.

Thomas Brian Yates, 72, of Parkhill Road West, is charged with the following:

  • Fail to stop at scene of accident
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 12, 2018.

 

Dangerous operation of motor vehicle Arrest:

A 21-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged with dangerous driving and criminal negligence following a Saturday night traffic investigation.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on June 16, 2018 the victims were driving in a motor vehicle when another vehicle driven by the accused began following closely behind them and driving in a manner that was dangerous to the public including travelling at a high rate of speed, driving alongside the victim’s vehicle into on-coming traffic and eventually rear-ending the victim’s vehicle. The parties in both vehicles know each other.

An officer on patrol observed the incident and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Aylmer and Sherbrooke Streets.

As a result of the investigation Timothy Wilkins, 21, of Park Street North, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Criminal negligence
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on June 17, 2018, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later today (June 18).

The investigation continues.

 

Drive while disqualified Arrest:

A 27-year-old Havelock, Ontario man is facing several charges following a Friday morning traffic stop.

Shortly after 9 a.m. on June 15, 2018 an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop in the area of O’Connell Road for a vehicle with an improper muffler. While speaking with the male driver of the vehicle the driver provided the officer with someone else’s name and date of birth.

Through the investigation it was revealed that the accused was driving while disqualified and while under suspension.

As a result of the investigation Randy Allen Heigh, 27, of Highway 7, Havelock, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Driving while disqualified
  • Personation with intent
  • Fail to comply with a probation order X2
  • Drive while under suspension X3 (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Improper muffler (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 12, 2018.

 

Domestic assault with a weapon Arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 29-year-old Peterborough man with assault with a weapon and mischief following a weekend incident.

On June 16, 2018 the accused and the female victim were at a Peterborough residence during which time the accused struck the victim with a weapon (belt with a metal buckle) and caused damage to the residence. The victim attended the hospital for treatment to her injuries.

The incident was reported to police. On June 16, 2018 officers attended a Peterborough residence where, as a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with domestic assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 12, 2018.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

 

Domestic assault Arrest:

A 25-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with domestic assault following an investigation.

On the night of June 17, 2018 the accused and the female victim were walking in the City when witnesses observed the accused assault the victim. The incident was reported to police.

Officers attended the area where they located the accused. As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged with domestic assault and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 19, 2018.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

 

Break and enter Arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has made an arrest in a November 2017 break-in at a Stewart Street office building.

In November of 2017 an unknown suspect broke into an office building on Stewart Street. Through the investigation that has been ongoing since that time the male suspect was identified.

On June 16, 2018 an officer on patrol located the suspect walking in the area of Hunter Street.

As a result of the investigation Terry Pheap Thang, 31, of Walker Avenue, Peterborough, was arrested and charged with break and enter and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on June 16, 2018, was released from custody and is scheduled to appear again in court on July 5, 2018.

 

Break and enter Arrest:

A 35-year-old Peterborough man has been arrested and charged following a break-in at his ex-girlfriend’s home.

At approximately 1:45 a.m. on June 15, 2018 officers were dispatched to a Peterborough residence after receiving a report that the accused was attempting to break into the victim’s apartment. The accused is currently on conditions including not contacting or communicating in any way with the victim and not going within 100 metres of any place where the victim may work, reside, go to school or frequent.

Officers attended and located the accused where, as a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with break and enter and breach of probation X3.

The accused appeared in court on June 15, 2018.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.

 

Resist peace officer Arrest:

A 22-year-old Scarborough man has been charged following a weekend incident outside a George Street North nightclub.

Shortly after 1 a.m. on June 17, 2018 due to the ongoing behaviour and actions of the accused, the accused was placed under arrest outside the nightclub for public intoxication. During the arrest the accused resisted and attempted to flee the area on foot. The officer was able to apprehend the accused.

As a result of the investigation Shadreck Alston-Mairs, 22, of Trudelle Street, Scarborough, was arrested and charged with resist peace officer.The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 12, 2018.

 

 

Domestic assault Arrest:

A 30-year-old Peterborough woman has been charged with domestic assault following an incident earlier in June.

On June 4, 2018 the accused and male victim were at a Peterborough residence where they became involved in a verbal argument during which time the victim was assaulted and had his phone damaged. The incident was later reported to police.

On June 9, 2018 officers attended a Peterborough residence where, as a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with domestic assault, mischief under $5,000 and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 12, 2018.

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.
