It was the last day for salmon fishing on Saturday, September 30, 2023 in area waterways including the Ganaraska River in Port Hope.
There were plenty of salmon still in the rivers and plenty of anglers along the shorelines reeling them in – or at least trying too.
From young anglers to the more experienced (in some cases) there were more than enough fish for everyone.
Some anglers decided to take their limit, while for others, it was catch and release.
With rods being cast in all directions along the river, salmon weren’t the only thing being hooked.
Due to by-law regulations, fishing along the Ganaraska River closed down at 8 p.m., but for other areas it was midnight before the hooks had to come out of the water for another year.
