Cobourg Police – Cobourg Man Charged with Mischief, Uttering Death Threats and Assault of a Peace Officer (No Name Released)

A 29-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges of mischief, uttering death threats, and assaulting a peace officer after police responded to a damage to property call.

On Saturday, September 23, 2023, at approximately 7:36 p.m., police responded to a man smashing the front entrance of the Cobourg Police Station with a large rock.

The male was quickly located and arrested outside of the station. During the arrest, the male uttered racial slurs and death threats, and assaulted one of the responding officers.

As a result, the 29-year-old Cobourg man was charged with mischief, uttering death threats, and assault of a peace officer.

Today’s Northumberland has learned the same suspect entered a downtown business shortly before the incident and took a bottle of alcohol (valued at approximately $100) from the business without paying and walked west along King Street to the Cobourg Police Station where the incident before the court happened.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
