A New Venture for Stevenson Building Products at the Cobourg Community Centre

It’s a new venture that Stevenson Building Products is proud to be apart of.

Stevenson Building Products will be the new sponsors of the scoreboard clock at the Cobourg Community Centre.

Director of Community Services Brian Geerts said at a recent council meeting the Cobourg Community Centre is a decade old and some of the parts need replacing.

One of those “parts” is the scoreboard clock located in The Bowl which has a seating capacity of 2,000.

Stevenson Building Products has been working with the Town of Cobourg over the past year and will be taking over as the prime sponsors of the clock/scoreboard for the next decade.

Geerts said as prime sponsor will begin monthly payments over a 10-year term that will total $190,000, in return for which they get fixed advertising in the corner of the clock and a large polytex SBP logo on the bottom of the clock.  The total funding for the clock/scoreboard is $233,000.

Dustin Heenan, Director of Operations for Stevenson Building Products said the company is both thrilled and honoured to be part of new equipment that will be installed over centre ice.

From concerts to hockey games and much more the clock/scoreboard is a staple of The Bowl.

“This is awesome news for all events hosted at the CCC,” said Heenan.

With groups from around Northumberland Count and beyond using The Bowl, Heenan said they’ve likely been working with the Town for over a year on the project.

Heenan said he’s very grateful to Krista Williams and Brian Geerts from the town for coming up with the idea of sponsoring the clock/scoreboard.

The company wanted to do something great for the community and discussed different ideas.

“We knew the local hockey programs would appreciate the upgrade to the scoreboard, as well as enhance the game experience for the fans, there’s continued growing involvement with the Wild hockey and the Nighthawks Programs. It would be well used for sure.”

“We’re excited. It’s been a long road. There were a lot of i’s dotted and t’s crossed to get to this point – but we’re happy.”

There will be special features on the clock including “awesome horn.”

“Kids are going to love it.”

It’s the biggest promotion Stevenson Building Products has taken on, but Heenan said they are growing and are proud members of the community so it’s about giving back to the community where we were raised.

“I would be lying if I didn’t say we are really proud of this.”

Stevenson Building Products is a family owned business since 1979 with 10 employees and are located on Roseneath Landing Road.

The company specializes in windows, doors, garage doors, any type of siding, flooring, stone, interior trims and doors among other things.

The rectangular scoreboard/clock was sourced out to Harris Time Inc. and is expected to be installed around December/January time frame.
