Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a driver for impaired operation after a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle on private property and sustained critical injuries.
On June 30, 2023 at approximately 11:25 pm officers were dispatched to a collision on private property in Coboconk where a car struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian was airlifted to a Toronto Area hospital in critical condition. As a result of the investigation the driver of the vehicle was arrested.
Pitar SHOPOV, 31 years-of-age, of Coboconk has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on July 20, 2023.
The OPP would like to remind the public that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements. The public should also be reminded that impaired driving is an offence anywhere in Canada, which includes all private property, roads and waterways.
