Riverside Park A Hidden Gem Of Port Hope

In Community, Editor Choice, Local

One of the many hidden gems of Port Hope is Riverside Park.
In 2017 the Municipality was the recipient of the New Horizons for Seniors Program grant for the development of an interactive park at Riverside Park.
The area is located across from the Ruth Clarke Activity Centre for Seniors.
A grant of $18,000 represented the total funding for the development of the park which aligns with the Community Strategic Plan and the Age-Friendly Community Action Plan and encourages social participation, inclusion, volunteerism and engaging seniors in mentoring of others and opportunities for inter-generational activities.  A ping-pong table, along with a chess table and other areas make for a perfect summer outing for seniors or families
The Park initiative has been in the works for approximately one year year, but all of the features were installed and ready for use in mid-June. The interactive features were delivered and installed at various times, and most had to be done after the winter, so that the ground was thawed.
