Northumberland County Fire Chiefs call for Fire Ban starting Wednesday, June 7, 2023 Cobourg, ON (June 6, 2023) – The Town of Cobourg Fire Department would like to inform all
residents that a fire ban will be enforced for Cobourg and Northumberland County starting Wednesday, June 7, 2023.
Due to dry vegetation and poor air quality, Northumberland County Fire Chiefs have determined a fire ban is necessary to ensure the continued safety of the public. Effective Wednesday, June 7 and until dry conditions and air quality improve, there is a complete fire ban in effect. The fire ban restricts all open-air fires including campfires, burn barrels, chimeneas, brush piles and yard waste.
Cooking devices that are designed to cook food with wood pellets or charcoal, such as smokers or grills, are permitted for use. Any cooking devices, outdoor fireplaces and fuel fired appliances that use propane or natural gas are also exempt from the fire ban.
Any questions regarding the fire ban may be directed to the Cobourg Fire Department at 905-372-9789.
