Cobourg Police – Cobourg Man Charged with Trafficking, Possession of Break-In Instruments, Fail To Attend Court (Name Released)

A 30-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after being arrested on a warrant.

On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 7:30 a.m., police observed an individual known to be wanted on an outstanding warrant by the Cobourg Police Service in the area of Division Street and Veronica Street.

As a result of the police investigation, the man was arrested on the strength of the two warrants. During the arrest, police located a quantity of suspected fentanyl, cash and break and enter tools.

As a result, Brandon Pereira (30) of Cobourg was charged with the following offences:

1. Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance to wit Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

3. Possession of Break-In Instruments contrary to section 351(1) CCC

4. Fail to Attend Court After Having Appeared, contrary to section 145(2)(b)

The accused was held for bail and later remanded into custody.
