Hamilton Township Appoints New Fire Chief

The Township of Hamilton is pleased to announce that Michael Robinson has been appointed to the role of Director of Emergency Services / Fire Chief, effective April 24, 2023.

Mr. Robinson brings a wealth of experience from his roles in the private sector and his work with the Township for over 20-plus years as a volunteer firefighter with an increasing level of responsibility, and for the last five years as a full-time employee as the Fire Protection Special / Training Officer, District Chief. Robinson has most recently provided support to the Township as the Interim / Acting Fire Chief.

“Mike has extensive and progressive experience in the fire sector in Ontario, the County of Northumberland and of course, here in the Township. As a life-long resident of the Township and with his dedication and commitment to our residents and community, as well as to the fire profession as a whole, we are proud to call him one of our own and are thrilled to make this announcement today.” – Mayor Scott Jibb

Robinson has demonstrated a commitment to lifelong learning, with a Bachelor of Arts – Geography, a Certificate from Dalhousie University in Fire Service Leadership, and extensive and continuous training and certification required to keep his skills and insights up-to-date.

“With the very sound and real partnerships he has built and developed in the Township and with our colleagues across the County, Mike’s experience will help us as we implement the Master Fire Plan to keep us ready to serve the residents of our community now, but also to prepare our Fire Department as we move forward for the challenges ahead.” – Arthur Anderson, CAO
