Luxurious Yacht In Cobourg Harbour

In Editor Choice, Local

Today’s Northumberland got an exclusive look at a 1938 motorsailer ketch, 62′ yacht called Trade Wind that visited Cobourg Harbour on Saturday, July 14, 2018.
The yacht is owned by Marcy Jean Brenner who was visiting her friend and Brighton resident Laurence Stevenson. The friends met while Stevenson was playing Irish music in Florida and Brenner met him.
Trade Wind was designed by Ralph Winslow at the office of John Alden and it was built at the Jacobs Boatyard, in New York.
Previously it has cruised the east coast as a research vessel and private yacht.
The luxurious yacht comes with three staterooms and even a woodstove and two 1956, 6-71 Detroit diesel engines.
It underwent a full restoration starting in 2008 and was “reborn”in Rockport, Maine.
“I wanted to do the Great Lakes and have friends all along,” said Brenner.
Starting out in Maine, Brenner travel to Lunenberg, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and along the St. Lawrence.
From Cobourg, Brenner said she was heading to the Wellend Canal.
With Saturday being her first time in Cobourg, Brenner said the community is beautiful.
“It’s very nice because you’ve got the beach and other places close.”
“It’s a nicely protected harbour.”
Brenner said she’s been to the Bahama’s three times on Trade Wind and loves travelling on the yacht.
The wheelhouse has the original wheel and table made of butternut. The rest of the wheelhouse is made from teak.
For those interested, the yacht is for sale. It’s listed at $2.9 million U.S..
