The Town of Cobourg has announced 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, as the starting time for the Public Works Division to perform downtown snow removal – an effort that is expected to run overnight into the early-morning hours of Wednesday.

The announcement included a list of the streets affected.

King Street (from College Street to Ball Street)

Division Street (from Chapel Street to the Esplanade)

Covert Street

Buck Street

Second Street

Hibernia Street (from King Street to Albert Street)

Third Street (from King Street to Albert Street)

Albert Street (from Hibernia Street to Division Street)

Queen Street (from Division Street to McGill Street)

McGill Street (from King Street to Charles Street)

George Street (from King Street to Orange Street)

The Town of Cobourg appreciates the efforts of its residents in parking off-street to allow for safe and efficient snow-removal operations this winter, and reminds everyone that the Winter Parking Bylaw is still in effect. This bylaw states that no person shall park a motor vehicle in any way that obstructs removal of snow from the streets – which is applicable to all streets and times. If a vehicle is found with windrow of snow around it and no tire tracks leading to or from the parking space, officers may ticket and/or tow.

And as you conduct your own snow removal, remember that it is dangerous (not to mention a contravention under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act) to push or blow your snow back on to the streets.

For more information, contact Public Works at 905-372-9971.
