City of Kawartha Lakes Police – Two Drivers Charged with Impaired (Names Released)

Kawartha Lakes Police charged two drivers with impaired driving early Sunday morning, from two separate investigations.
On Sunday January 29, 2023 at 1:20am while on patrol a Kawartha Lakes Police constable stopped a vehicle on Division Street in Lindsay, in order to investigate a traffic infraction. While speaking with the driver the officer noticed signs of impairment. The driver provided a breath sample into an approved screening device and failed. The driver was placed under arrest for impaired driving. 38-year-old James Massey of Fenelon Twp has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operations while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and one Highway Traffic Act infraction. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 400 Kent Street West in Lindsay on March 9, 2023.

Approximately three hours later, at 4:39am, while responding to a call for service, the responding officer observed a vehicle travelling without headlights activated and visibility obstructed by snow. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Dyana Drive in Lindsay. Speaking with the driver the officer noticed signs of impairment and placed him under arrest. As a result of an investigation, 30-year-old Robert Carter of Bobcaygeon has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), failure to comply with undertaking X2, theft of credit card, possession of credit card, six Highway Traffic Act infractions and one Liquor Licence Control Act infraction. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 400 Kent Street West in Lindsay on March 9, 2023.
