Hamilton Township – Revised 2023 Draft Budget

In City Hall

On Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 10:00am, the Township of Hamilton Municipal Council and Staff will be reviewing the 2023 Draft Budget at a Special Council Meeting.

Following the January 19, 2023 Budget Meeting, Council directed staff to provide additional information relating to several items, including the Laurel Park Revitalization Project, Baltimore and Bewdley Recreation Centres User Statistics, Harwood Waterfront, facility back-up generators, and the replacement of an aging tractor / mower used for roadside brushing and grass cutting. The revised budget package also includes a financial outlook for the Township from 2024-2026.

Township Staff and Council have been developing the 2023 Budget since Summer 2022. During this preparation time, a public budget survey was issued through the Township’s Community Engagement and Survey webpage. Public comments and feedback were received and considered during the creation of the 2023 Budget. In addition, following the January 19, 2023 Budget Meeting, additional community feedback was sought on the Laurel Park Revitalization Project through an online survey.

A review of this survey and comments will be presented at the February 2, 2023 budget meeting.

The revised 2023 Draft Operating Budget proposes a 6.7% tax levy increase. Factoring in assessment growth of 0.9% from 2022 as provided by the Municipal Assessment Corporation (MPAC), the net levy increase for 2023 is 5.8%.

Township Council will be reviewing the revised draft budget at the Municipal Office in Camborne on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 10:00am.
Members of the public are invited to attend the budget meeting at 8285 Majestic Hills Drive, Camborne or to watch the meetings live or afterwards on the Township’s YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo_NM06Zxp4vQ36H44vdosQ)

Questions about the 2023 Draft Budget can be directed to Nusrat Ahmed, Director of Financial Services / Treasurer at nahmed@hamiltontownship.ca or any member of Council.
