Show and Shine for Spencer Devine Supports NHH Community Mental Health Services

In Charity, Community, Local

By Cecilia Nasmith/Today’s Northumberland
On Sept. 17, the first Show and Shine for Spencer Devine was held in Port Hope, in memory of Spencer Devine and to raise awareness about mental health.

On Oct. 20, proceeds of $2,800 were presented to Northumberland Hills Hospital’s Mental Health Services.

The Show and Shine was organized by Spencer’s mother Liz Jeffries Bradley, his brother Chase and many of his friends. There was no entry fee to participate in either the 1K walk or the car show, but donations were collected throughout and many of those present gave generously.

Spencer had been a talented photographer and storm chaser, and additional funds were raised through an auction of some of his images, the sale of note cards and a prize table featuring donations from local businesses.

Chase made the trip to NHH this week to present the $2,800 cheque. On site to greet him were Integrated Director of Mental Health, Community Programs and Services Emma Taylor, NHH Foundation Chief Executive Officer Rhonda Cunningham, Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini and Office Manger/Constituency Assistant Bonnie Harrison.
