The Capitol Theatre closes their 2022 Summer Season with 9 to 5: The Musical, directed by Artistic Producer Rob Kempson, with Julie Tomaino as Choreographer and Chris Barillaro as Music Director. Based on the 1980 hit film, and featuring music by Dolly Parton, this hilarious and heartfelt musical takes the stage on August 5-featuring a live band and cast of 14 of the best performers from across the country.

“A fierce and funny musical about female empowerment!”

Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy
and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy-giving him the boot! Featuring songs by Dolly Parton, 9 to 5 is a musical re-imagining of the hilarious 1980 hit film.

9 to 5: The Musical is based on the 1980 cult film, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton. It features a book by Patricia Resnick, based on the screenplay by Resnick and Colin Higgins.

The musical first premiered in Los Angeles in September 2008, opening on Broadway in April 2009. It received 15 Drama Desk Award nominations, the most ever received by a production in
a single year, as well as four Tony Awards nominations. A new production opened on the West End in February 2019.

Presented live on stage from August 5 – September 4.

Returning to the Capitol Theatre is Kelly Holiff, who plays Doralee (the famous Dolly Parton role) in this new production. After her turn as Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray, Kelly is thrilled to find
herself back in Port Hope for 9 to 5: The Musical.

“The Capitol holds a special place in my heart; there is something so welcoming about the community here and I am excited to be a part of the first season under Rob Kempson as Artistic
Producer. Doralee feels like a part that I was made to play and I am really looking forward to sharing her with audiences in Port Hope and Northumberland County.” – Kelly Holiff
