Cobourg Police – Drug Poisoning Death in Downtown Cobourg

On June 30 2022, at 12:20 a.m., police on proactive patrol downtown Cobourg discovered a male in medical distress in a vestibule of a bank on King Street. Police immediately began life saving efforts, including dispensing Narcan until Cobourg Fire and Northumberland Paramedics arrived.

Despite efforts from police, fire, and paramedics, the male died at the scene.

The scene is being held for the coroner. There will be increased police presence on King Street until further notice.

As per the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Opioid Response Plan, the Cobourg Police Service will inform the HKPRD Health Unit to support the early warning systems for the timely identification of drug poisoning.
