Installation of Groundwater Monitoring Wells in Cobourg

The Town of Cobourg would like to advise residents of drilling to take place on George Street and Alice Street for the replacement and installation of groundwater monitoring wells.

As per the Sustainable Neighbourhood Master Plan for the Tannery District, the Groundwater Monitoring wells assist the Town of Cobourg evaluate the readiness of the Tannery Lands for future
re-development. Such monitoring has been ongoing for the last 10 years and the older wells are in need of replacement. Two new groundwater wells and soil probes are also being installed to further delineate and monitor soil and groundwater trends. The Sustainable Neighbourhood Master Plan for the Tannery District will be a comprehensive, over-arching plan to achieve a healthy, vibrant, and sustainable neighbourhood in the Tannery District.

WSP Golder will be on site starting Wednesday, May 11, 2022 with work scheduled to be completed Friday, May 13, 2022. This work will include drilling machinery that will reduce George Street to one lane at times. The public is advised to proceed with caution and obey all yield to traffic signage or flag persons present.
