Cyclists set to take over the streets of Cobourg.

Come out for a cycling adventure around Cobourg on June 5, 2022, starting at 10am (registration at 9:30 am) in Victoria Park. Children, parents, grandparents – everyone is welcome!

Join the Bike for the Planet ride. It is open to cyclists of all ages for a leisurely bicycle ride around Cobourg. Come alone or bring your clan.

Cobourg Police Service will be providing an escort. Even Police Chief Paul Vandegraaf is joining us! This family-friendly event will be very safe.

There will be two options for rides.

A shorter 6-km route is available, along with a slightly longer one of 11-km. It will be no longer than an hour in time, following streets, trails, and paths. The routes start and end at Victoria Park.

Everyone will meet at the Victoria Park bandshell at 9:30 a.m. for registration. People can be home by lunch or stay for a picnic by the beach!

“This is a great opportunity to take over the streets of Cobourg. Cars will be off to the side because we’re coming through on bikes! It’ll feel great! With more and more people in Cobourg and Northumberland County, cycling and the area are becoming a real tourist attraction. The Bike for the Planet ride will celebrate cycling,” says Sustainable Cobourg member Rick Nonnekes.

Whether it is a family or one your own, this event is a great way to share time with others.

“My family loves riding together! The kids enjoy exploring and getting around,” says Matthew Forbes. “This event will let us join many others in a safe, community activity.”

Cycling is an activity for all ages.

“Biking is fun and healthy. We want to make it as safe as possible so that more people will take up biking as a regular activity—shopping, errands, biking to school, work, whatever,“ says Northumberland Hills Cycling Club President Randy Albon.

Mark Sunday, June 5 on your calendar.
