In Editor Choice, Local

A Harwood home was destroyed by fire on Friday, February 18, 2022.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. Hamilton Township Fire Department responded to a structure fire on White Road South in Harwood.

When fire crews arrived the garage, which was below the home was fully engulfed and had spread to the upper portion of the home.

The fire had extended into the roof area of the home and firefighters immediately called for additional tanker support from Alnwick/Haldimand Township Fire Department and Port Hope Fire Department.

The occupants of the home made it out safely from the residence.

There is no immediate cause of the fire, but it’s believed the fire started in the garage area of the home. The cause of the fire at this time is not believed to be suspicious.

The home was a total loss.
