On Friday, February 12, 2022, David Piccini, MPP for Northumberland Peterborough-South, and Municipality of Port Hope Mayor Bob Sanderson was joined by Minister Raymond Cho, Minister of Seniors and Accessibility to make an exciting announcement for seniors in our community.

“The Government of Ontario is committed to helping seniors stay healthy, safe and socially connected within their own communities” said MPP Piccini. “We understand that many seniors face challenges accessing programs and services that support their safety, mental and physical health, and overall well-being.”

“That’s why our government is investing $13,000, right here in Port Hope, for virtual programming for our seniors, helping them stay social and active in the community,” added MPP Piccini.

Municipality of Port Hope Mayor Bob Sanderson said that “we are grateful to the province for their continued support towards enhancing our virtual hub and programming for seniors as we strive to maintain and improve the quality of life for all residents in Port Hope.”

“This funding will benefit older adults, particularly those who are isolated during the pandemic,” the Mayor added. “Port Hope is an active, vibrant, healthy, and caring community and this support allows us to provide more opportunities for our seniors to remain healthy, active and socially engaged.”

Minister Cho said that the “Seniors Community Grants are a marvelous investment that keep our Seniors fit, active and healthy while keeping connected to family and friends. I applaud Minister Piccini for all of his hard work to make sure Seniors across Northumberland – Peterborough South experience tremendous enjoyment with each of these Seniors Community Grants.”
