Best Year Ever for 10th Annual Queenies Bake Shop Toy Drive

It was the best year ever for the 10th annual Queenies Bake Shop Toy Drive in Port Hope.

Owner of Queenies Bake Shop, Adam Pearson has been holding the toy drive each year at his store.

For each toy brought in, Pearson matches the value or more of the toy.

Each year before packing up the toys, Pearson takes a photo of everything in his store. This year there was so many that he had to close early to fit them all in the store because they were taking up so much room.

“This year I’d say it’s probably the biggest that I’ve had. Last year was a pretty good haul, but this year, after spreading everything out, it looks like it’s the biggest so far.”

It’s estimated over $5,000 were brought in from the community and Pearson.

“This is what Christmas is about, this is what I enjoy doing – it’s the best part of Christmas.”

A pickup truck and Pearson’s car pulled into the Highland Shores Children’s Aid Society on Burnham Street in Cobourg and staff and volunteers were thrilled.

“It’s pretty amazing,” said Child Protection Worker Erin Colton.

“This year, this is even more stuff and the kids are going to be so excited.”

“I can’t believe how much is here.”

“With COVID times are tougher than ever so all of these donations are so appreciated.”
