Another Transport Strikes Railway Overpass in Cobourg

In Police Blotter

A transport driver is facing a charge under the Highway Traffic Act after colliding with a railway bridge in Cobourg on Thursday, November 18, 2021.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. a transport was travelling south on Burnham Street when the top of the trailer collided with a CP railway bridge.

The top was ripped off of the trailer.

Cobourg Police attended the scene and Burnham Street was closed between King Street West and Westwood Drive until the damaged trailer could be removed.

Representatives from CP Rail checked the bridge to make sure it was structurally sound before allowing rail traffic.

The driver was following a GPS to a delivery site located in the west end of Cobourg.

Pedestrians walking by the scene took it in stride as it seems to becoming more common.  Less than a month ago on October 24, 2021 that another transport struck the overpass.
