Update – Northumberland OPP – Trent Hills Shooting Investigation Now A Homicide

(TRENT HILLS, ON) – On Thursday, September 16, 2021, at approximately 8:12 a.m., Northumberland OPP, along with Northumberland Paramedics, responded to reports of a male at a residence suffering from a suspected gunshot wound on Centennial Lane at the hamlet of Trent River.

The victim, identified as Andrew Brenton BROWN, 38 years of age, of Warkworth, has succumbed to his injuries. A post-mortem was conducted in Kingston.  

Police are currently searching for the suspect, identified as Zachary COMEAU, 18 years of age, of no fixed address. He is described as a white male, approximately 5’11”, 150lbs, with blue eyes and brown wavy/curly hair. COMEAU also has facial tattoos that depict images of a “dollar sign” and a “crown.”

He is considered armed and dangerous. If seen, DO NOT APPROACH and call 9-1-1 immediately.  

The investigation is now being considered a homicide and continues to be investigated by members of the Northumberland Crime Unit and Central Region Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.
