Update – Cobourg Police – CCI Student Charged With Weapons Offences

On September 13, 2021, at approximately 12:55 pm, police attended Cobourg Collegiate Institute in response
to a report of a physical altercation between students in the area off school property.

Police located the firearm, which was confirmed to be an unloaded pellet gun. As a result of the subsequent
police investigation, a youth was charged with the following offences:

Carrying concealed weapon contrary to section 90(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose contrary to section 88(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

Pointing a firearm contrary to section 87(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

Assault with a weapon contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The youth was arrested and released with a future court date.

The identity of the accused is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
