Cobourg Fire Department Attends Brush Fire

Members of the Cobourg Fire Department were dispatched to a brush fire in Cobourg on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

At approximately 6 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to the area south of Kerr Street, just east of Division Street for reports of a brush fire.

Black smoke could be seen in the area when fire crews arrived.

It appears the fire may have been remnants from a tent or tarp combined with other combustible materials.

Officials said it’s unknown if a homeless person was living in the area, but there were numerous food cans at the site.

It’s unknown how the fire was started.
