Beautiful Evening in Cobourg To End Long Weekend

In Editor Choice, Local, Weather

It was a beautiful end to the Victoria Day long weekend down along the lakeshore in Cobourg on Monday, May 24, 2021.

A number of people were out enjoying a quiet stroll along the east pier with some venturing out beyond the gates.
The lake was calm with hardly any breeze as a vintage aircraft and two motorized parachutes went by overhead.

Near the Coast Guard dock, there people spent several hours trying to capture four ducklings after their mother had died. They were successful in netting one, and kept trying for the other three. At one point the three joined up with another duck, but it was obvious it wanted nothing to do with the ducklings. Later in the evening the people saw the three ducklings mixed in with a group of other ducks, they released the one they had and it quickly joined in with the other group.

On the west pier a fishing boat came into the harbour after a day on the lake as a bright full moon rose in the colourful blue sky.

Along the shoreline where a number of people enjoyed the first hot long weekend there was some garbage along the beach, but it looked like most people took what they brought with them.

On the west pier four friends walked out with blankets, pizza and pop they had purchased to enjoy the evening and watch for any fireworks that may light up the sky.

Two other people just found a spot along the west pier to sit on the boulders and take in the beautiful sunset.
