A smaller number of anti-lockdown protestors showed up once again in front of Victoria Hall despite Provincial regulations.

And most of the protestors on Saturday, May 1, 2021 received $880.00 tickets under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.

Approximately six members of the Cobourg Police Service were on hand to monitor the demonstration which takes place every Saturday from noon until 3 p.m.

This week however, police didn’t wait till the later end of the protest to issue tickets.

Shortly after the protest started, police told each of the protestors they had 10-minutes to disperse or they would be issuing the tickets.

While some did move along, most of the protestors who have been there each week since the beginning of the pandemic stayed and received the ticket.

Protestors have continually stated the tickets will be tossed from court, but that has yet to be proven.
