Seventy-four years of service was celebrated virtually Feb. 18, as the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority held their 74th Annual General Meeting via Zoom.

In an election officiated by Glenn Tozer of Lynch Rutherford Tozer Chartered Accountants, Jeff Lees (Municipality of Port Hope) was re-elected chair, with Mark Lovshin (Hamilton Township) retaining the vice-chair’s seat.

Chair Jeff Lees began the meeting by thanking everyone for their continued dedication through a year full of ups and downs. He followed up with the 2020 Annual Report, highlighting some of the many programs and services that are offered across the Ganaraska Watershed, while emphasizing the GRCA’s leadership in the field.

CAO/Secretary-Treasurer Linda Laliberte then presented a summary of the agency’s finances, and took the opportunity to extend gratitude to board members and staff for an exceptional year of hard work through complicated times.
The meeting then continued into 2021 business, including elections and appointments for a successful year ahead.
Moving into its 75th year serving the Ganaraska watershed, the GRCA remains dedicated to the environment and (to quote their motto) “Clean water, healthy land for healthy communities.”

Other members of the 2021 board of directors include Nicole Beatty and Brian Darling of the Town of Cobourg, Greg Booth of the Township of Alnwick-Haldimand, Vicki Mink of the Municipality of Port Hope, Tim Belch of the Township of Cavan Monaghan, Joe Neal and Margaret Zwart of the Municipality of Clarington and Tracy Richardson of the City of Kawartha Lakes.
