From the 21st day of May, 2018 through the 27th day of May, 2018 the Cobourg Police Service responded to 237 occurrences including; 50 Community Service calls, 20 Police Assistance calls, 3 Traffic Complaints, 6 Fraud calls, 9 Suspicious Person calls, 7 Police Information calls, 12 Property Related calls, 2 Assault calls, 3 Break and Enter Calls, 8 – 911 calls, 13 Theft calls, 9 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 9 Alarm calls, 1 Harassment call, 4 Disturb the Peace calls, 3 Threats calls, 3 Noise complaints, 3 Domestic Dispute calls, 3 Family Dispute calls, 2 Attempt or Threat of Suicide, 2 Mischief calls, 3 Missing Person calls. Monday, May 21, 2018:
Police responded to a report of a two vehicle collision in the parking lot of a local business located in the West end of Cobourg at approximately 10:42am. No parties injured. No charges laid as a result of the collision having occurred on private property.
Police responded to the East end of Cobourg after the report of a single gunshot being heard in the area. Officers conducted an extensive search of the area and it was determined the noise was a firework that had been set off.
Police responded to a residence located in the west end of Cobourg at 11:45am regarding the report of a break and enter in the early hours of the morning. Police investigation observation revealed no sign of forced entry into the home. Investigation continues.
Tuesday, May 22, 2018:
Police responded to a west end neighborhood after the report of a suspicious vehicle observed in the area. The vehicle noted to be occupied by a male and female who were noted to be yelling. Officers attended and search the area but were unable to locate any vehicle matching the description provided.
Police responded to a suspicious person call in a west end neighborhood at 5:32am. Reportedly a male and female were observed lurking around the area. Officers attended and located the involved parties, it was determined they were walking their dog.
Police responded to an east end residence after receiving a report of a theft from the motor vehicle overnight. No damage was observed to the involved motor vehicle and investigation revealed the vehicle had been left unlocked.
Wednesday, May 23, 2018
Police responded to a report of a two vehicle collision that occurred on the east end of Cobourg at 2:08pm No parties injured. An investigation was conducted and one driver was charged with fail to yield to traffic on a through highway under the Highway Traffic Act.
Police attended a local business at approximately 12:26pm in regard to an after the fact reported theft. Police investigation revealed $600.00 worth of property had been removed from the business. Investigation continues.
Police investigated a report of an intrusion alarm at a local business in the west end of Cobourg at approximately 7:44am. Police determined there were no insecure entrances to the building and everything appeared to be in order. Investigation revealed the alarm was accidently set off by Staff.
Thursday, May 24, 2018
Police received a report of theft of bicycle from a park located in the west end of Cobourg. Investigation revealed the bicycle had been left leaning against a park fence unattended for approximately two minutes. When the Owner returned to retrieve the bike it had been removed from the area. No suspects. No identified witness to the theft.
Police responded to a west end residence after a 911 hang up was received, the phone line remained open but no voice contact. Investigation revealed the caller was suffering from the flu and required transportation to Northumberland Hills Hospital for further medical follow up. Party was transported by Ambulance without incident.
Police responded to an address in the down town area after receiving a report of an after the fact mischief. Police investigation revealed that unknown person(s) had spat chewing tobacco on the seat of an involved male’s bicycle. No witnesses to the incident. No suspects.
Friday, May 25, 2018
Police attended a local establishment at approximately 12:16 am to conduct a walk through. Everything appeared to be in order and no violations were observed.
Police responded to an east end address after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area. The passenger of the motor vehicle was reportedly observed to have an infant on her lap. The area was searched and the involved vehicle was located. Officers identified the passenger of the motor vehicle and ensured infants were secured in age appropriate car seats.
Police attended Northumberland Hills Hospital after a Panic Alarm was activated. Investigation revealed the alarm was triggered in error and everything was in order.

On Saturday the 26th of May, 2018, at approximately 11:08pm, Officers from the Cobourg Police Service conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle travelling on Elgin Street East in the Town of Cobourg. As a result of a subsequent investigation the involved motor vehicle was searched. During the search Officers located and seized a quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and cash. The street value of the drugs seized is estimated at $20,000. The Involved male was arrested and held in the Custody of the Cobourg Police Service scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice, by way of video on 27 May 2018.
On Saturday the 26th of May, 2018, at approximately 9:20am, members of the Peterborough Police Service located a male who was currently wanted on an outstanding warrant held by the Cobourg Police Service. The resident of Cobourg was arrested on the warrant and charged with Failing to Attend Court under the Criminal Code. The accused was subsequently held in the custody of the Cobourg Police Service, scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, by way of video on the 27th day of May 2018.
Police responded to a local business in regard to a reported shoplifter. A female party was placed under arrest. The stolen items valued at $30.00 were returned without incident. The involved female was trespassed from the property.

Police responded to an east end residence after receiving a report of a theft from the motor vehicle overnight. No damage was observed to the involved motor vehicle and investigation revealed the vehicle had been left unlocked.
Police responded to a west end residence after receiving a report of an unwanted male in the area. Police located and identified the male who was currently wanted by Northumberland OPP on the strength of an outstanding warrant, custody of the male was turned over to the OPP for further investigation.
Police attended a local business in the down town area at approximately 11:21pm in response to an alarm. Officers conducted a search of the exterior of the business and determined there were no insecure entrances to the building and everything appeared to be in order.
