One person is dead following a residential fire in Colborne on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. emergency services were notified of smoke coming from the upper floor of a residence on Norton Lane.
Northumberland OPP were the first to arrive and tried to check the residence to see if it was occupied, but the smoke to to thick to make entry.
Cramahe Township firefighters arrived quickly and upon a primary search located a woman.
Firefighters quickly removed the woman from the residence and she was transported to hospital, but did not survive.
An investigator with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office is currently on scene investigating the cause of the fire that is confined to the upper floor bedroom.
At the time of the fire, the smoke alarms were operational.

The identification of the victim is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
