Breaking News – Kawartha Lakes OPP Officer Seriously Injured in “Critical Incident” Near Lindsay

An officer has been seriously injured in an incident near Lindsay.

City of Kawartha Lakes OPP are currently engaged in what is being called a “critical incident.”

The area of Pigeon Lake Road (Kawartha Lakes Road 17) is currently closed.

OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique stated in a tweet that a suspect has been apprehended and there are no concerns for public safety.

“Our thoughts and best wishes are with our officer.”

Police are releasing no other details, but Today’s Northumberland has learned at approximately 9 a.m. this morning emergency services were called to the area of Pigeon Lake Road near Lindsay.

Shots were fired during the incident.

Police have not confirmed, but reports have said a OPP officer was ejected from his vehicle.

A second person, it’s unknown whether the individual is a suspect, was taken to hospital with multiple gunshot wounds but was conscious.

Today’s Northumberland will provide updates as they become available.

Police are stating there is no concerns for public safety.
