MNRF – Do You Know Who’s Turning a Wildlife Area Into a Garbage Dump?

In Local

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) needs the public’s help identifying the latest offenders who have dumped garbage in the Gananoque Provincial Wildlife Area.

On November 12th, 2020, hunters reported garbage had been dumped along the roadway in the wildlife area. This has been an ongoing problem. MNRF has attempted to restrict vehicular access to the area due to the dumping of construction waste and other garbage. The gate is frequently vandalized and has been open since the spring. Even when the gate is locked, the area remains accessible by ATV, snowmobile, on foot and by other non-motorized means.

If you know anything about the garbage dumping please call 1-877-MNR-TIPS (1-877-847-7667).

MNRF conservation officers continue to patrol and protect our natural resources during the current COVID 19 outbreak and would like to remind everyone that by respecting seasons, sanctuaries, bag and possession limits we all help ensure our natural resources stay healthy.

To report a natural resource violation or provide information about an unsolved case, you can call the ministry TIPS line toll free at 1-877-847-7667 or contact your local ministry office. You can also call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS. For more information about unsolved cases, please visit ontario.ca/mnrftips.
