Careless Smoking Cause of Fire at Residence in Cobourg

In Local

Careless smoking was the cause of a fire at a residence in Cobourg on Thursday, November 12, 2020.

At approximately 11 p.m. Cobourg Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire on Sutherland Crescent with reports of smoke coming out the windows of one of the units.

When crews arrived on scene, smoke was visible on the second floor. It was determined that as a result of careless smoking a fire had started in the bedroom, but was put out before fire crews arrived.

It’s unknown the amount of damage.
