Cobourg Police – Woman Arrested for Fraud Over $5,000

In July of 2020, members of the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigation Branch commenced an investigation into a fraud at a local Cobourg business. It is alleged that an employee stole approximately $75,000 from the company over the past year.

On Monday, August 31st, 2020, the accused turned herself in to the Cobourg police.

54-year old, Brenda COMPEAU of Cobourg was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code
Offences:
1. Fraud Over $5000 – contrary to section 380(1)(a)

2. Theft Over $5000 – contrary to section CC 334(a)

3. Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – contrary to section CC 354(1)(a)

The accused was released from custody on an undertaking with strict conditions to a court date in October of 2020.
